I recently purchased Suzuki DF4 with Marina Engines and can honestly say that I am totally impressed. I am using this motor on a twelve foot utility boat for fishing on some very remote lakes in Northern Ontario, Canada.
Reliability, performance, fuel efficiency.

I got this outboard on sale for $2390 from marina engines and after looking at all options in this horsepower range I decided on the best. It is the best as it starts first pull every time. Lighter in weight compared to similar motors. Smooth in all the throttle ranges and is easy to use.
Smooth and starts first pull. i recommend this site for anyone in need of outboards engines

As a keen fisherman I have owned many outboards over the years, some good!, some not so good! But nothing compares to my Suzuki 6 hp df6al2 Outboard Motor! Being out on the water, reliability is the only thing that matters to me!.
I bought my yammie in 2018 and in all the years that I have owned it there has never been a single instance where I have had to pull the starter rope more than once! Not even after it has sat in the shed for months!
Squeeze the primer bulb, pull the choke, one pull of the starter rope, It goes! Never fails! Incredible!

I purchased a 3.5 high side nomad with a 15 hp Yamaha package (new) at marina engines the out board ran fine start first pull but with fishing gear my son and myself wouldn’t get out of the hole for a long distance. i paid through cripto and my package was delivered at the exact time given . will love to recommend my friends to get there engine from marina engines too

When I retired I bought a Yamaha 15 hp motor from marina engines. I then purchased a Stessl Edge Tracker 3.7 metre tinny and this was a perfect match. The motor bounced around the back of my Nissan for 5 years, often lying flat on its side with no bad effects. Always started first time, just a little choke when it was cold. Had a lot of use, it was the sweetest little motor dodging in and out of submerged trees and stumps chasing Red Claw. Smooth reverse . Motor never had a spanner on it, just a flush each time it was used. Found the motor extremely economical to use, I always used only Valvoline oil, but this was my personal choice.

Mercury 150 hp efi Bought this new in 2016 to replace an old carby Merc 150 hp on a Haines
cannot compare the two in any way at all, lots more power than the old school outboards.
Lots of power from down low, much stronger top end power than a 4 stroke
better on fuel but not super economical, but for the price I don’t care
Great outboard for skiing ect.

Mercury 150 hp efi I have just clocked 380hrs & my 150hp Mercury EFI 2009 model is running strong & reliable like day1, Yes they are a little thirsty but they are very powerful so can’t expect them to be super economical, very low maintanence engines, I change the gearbox oil every season & fit a new water impeller kit every couple years for preventative maintainence & off she goes. the best engine i got so far , i got it from marina engines with recommendation from a friend.

Mercury 150 HP EFI Easy on gas no doubt, however two times now this “dependable” motor has quit on us. My fault though…I had a 200hp Mercury 2 stroke that wasn’t dependable either. Live and learn.
Purchased in April 2019 from marina engines, good price so i could not say no to the offer thanks guys.

The Suzuki df150tl 2017 an amazing engine, never let me down, heaps of power, easy starter, just feels right to drive, great fuel consumption minimal vibrations. Best engine I have ever owned, very light but packs plenty of power, easily planes a dingy with tow people. My kids get it planing pulling each other on a surfboard standing up, keeps them entertained for hours, best investment I have ever made. Got if from marina engines on a good deal, paid with paypal and was delivered on required time .

SUZUKI df150apxw2 Excellent outboard, starts well hot or cold, I’ve owned two of them, one on a 20 ft rip tide plate boat giving around 22Lp/h at around 4000rpm, the other on an 18ft plate metal and marine giving a bit better being a lighter boat. I have owned 2 80 4 strokes and pound for pound the 130 2 strokes are better.
Ease of use, reliability, economy

Suzuki DF8 arl had it for more than 8 years now got if from marina engines at a good rate and better payment method
Positives.
Lighter by a big margin.
Throttle response is incredible.
Gear selection and throttle control with DBW is a revelation.
Huge mid range grunt.
Huge increase in speed at all RPM’s running same propeller.
Improved economy – increase in km / lt consumed.
No gear selection ‘clunk’
On my boat the WOT speed went from 72kmh (F250) to 80kmh (F300), cruising speed at 4500rpm went from 52kmh (F250) to 61kmh, running same prop.
RR price is approx. 30k plus fitting and controls.

Now 7 years old, my SUZUKI DF350ATX2 hasn’t missed a beat. Serviced every two years just fill it up and go. Quicksilver oil has worked fine. My SUZUKI DF350ATX2 starts first time on cold starts at the ramp, just give it revs and choke. Not the most fuel efficient or quiet motor but it is a two-stoke and a good option if you are after something cost-effective and reliable. Saying that tho, I would always recommend a 4-stroke over a two stroke especially at 40HP and above due to efficiency and convenience with refuelling. Got it from marina engines and am happy for getting it.

My “go to” Hobie dealer marina engines!!! Great site and great people! Just about to do the 300hr service. Incredibly good on fuel, reliable, smooth and quiet. This is my 1st Suzuki and every bit as good as previous Yamaha and Honda outboards I’ve previously owned

This guys are great they really know the water good advice and great prices . Bought my Suzuki DF30A Tiller Steer Outboard motor in December 2019 to push my Quintrex Wide Body Dory 420. Was told by all except one outboard dealer that a 30 HP four stroke would not have enough grunt to push a 420 WB Dory & that I should get a 40.

SUZUKI DF300APXX2, Awesome is the only way to start this review, I love this engine which i got from marina engines. I’m comparing it to a 2003 homda 200, with the same prop, (size snd pitch). Doing the same trip to where I fish, Same boat, gear, fuel, distance and people I have improved fuel consumption, more power out of the hole, more useable power over the whole rev range, better top speed and a little bit quieter then the Honda, I often forget the engine is running after I’ve dropped the achor with the whinch and started fishing, not till all rods are in the water and commotion has finished and I’m sitting waiting for that bite then all u can hear is the water noise of the water from the pisser hitting the water
What’s not to love, reliablty, useable power all over, super quiet, cheap to run, reduction gears, off set weight so more weight over transom
Throttle control arm a little stiff

SUZUKI 140HP 4 STROKE 20INCH SHAFT Ran well, no issues, reliable engine. Handled the boating season well, limited maintenance. Has a variety of engine sizes for all watercraft. Had a 5-year warranty and stands by its guarantee. I had no major issues and did not need to use the warranty but was happy to know it was available. They stand by this warranty and any work needed under this contract would be fully covered by the warranty. Have assurance that you are covered in case of problems. I had no issues or problems in the years that I owned this product. They are well-made, durable and stand up tough against the water ocean. Got it from marina engines at a good deal.

Suzuki DF 115 ATL A brand that’s high quality and built to last like no other. To last for more years than you’d expect a brand like Suzuki DF 115 ATL to keep up for many years to come. I have not had a lot of issues with tech. It’s great to know that it’s covered in case I have a major issue with it. If it comes up I know I won’t have to worry at all. It takes a beating and keeps on going like no other. It’s solid as hell and it has taken some lumps so far and yet I have had no issues with it at all yet.

I like to fish so it’s important to me to be able to hop in the boat and be able to go at any given moment. It is Suzuki DF 200 APL 25 horse and has not given me any trouble as of yet. I’m able to shut off and when it’s time to go it starts right up. I don’t have a warranty. I had bought at marina engines. It is a new motor. It has miles on it but I found out it’s reliable and would recommend to anybody. The only service I had ever did was replace spark plug and pull cord at the end of the year. I take to outboard motor expert and have him look it over. Never cost me that much. The motor has never gave me any complaints. I’m able to hop in my boat and go anytime I want and I have never been stuck out on the water so I would it high on my list for durability.

The value is outstanding great and none better. Got a powerful Suzuki DF15RL at a great price from marina engines and the repairs are gonna be so easy if I need any runs. Great. Warranty is great. Guaranteed to be fixed if it breaks but I don’t think it gonna break lol. This thing a beast. I will always honour their warranty and I love em. So many options for service I was like “wow”. I got exactly what I want and never had to complain. Very happy and will return. Don’t get me started on performance. It is outstanding great and top-notch. IDK what I would do if they were not top of line like they are. I got a tank of a motor lol.

I have a 2014 F90 on my boat bought brand new. It is an incredibly powerful and reliable motor. Sooo smooth and powerful at all speeds, and very quiet. I can’t exactly know the amount of hours but it’s used several times a week for the last four years. Only regular scheduled maintenance on it. I believe the key to any good experience with a motor starts with a trusted dealership and continues with a good break-in and quality non ethanol fuel and regular scheduled maintenance. I also have a friend with a 1987 Yamaha, he runs non-ethanol fuel and Seafoam in every tank… He definitely runs that motor hard and over/through anything on the rivers we fish and he has no issues at all. Both motors I feel are bulletproof. Like I said…I love my Yamaha. Take care of it and it will take care of you for a lifetime! Good luck with your choice and good fishing!

I own a 2001 Boston Whaler Dauntless 180 with an 115 HP 4 Stroke Yamaha. I bought this boat 3 years ago from marina engines used it on saltwater only. There is no rust anywhere and the motor starts and runs like new probably due to very good maintenance practices when i got it. I am amazed at how well this motor runs considering that by now it should have at least 1000 hours. This is my first experience with a Yamaha Outboard as I have been an Evinrude and Mercury outboard owner on my past boats. If the good experience continues, Yamaha would be my first outboard motor choice if I buy another boat or if I ever want to re-power. I have friends that own Yamaha Outboards and are very happy with their performance and reliability. I have not had to deal with any technical or performance issues with the Yamaha Company, so I can’t give my opinion on that end. I can say that, in my experience, the product is of a very good quality.

Bought this brand new mercury with my 2017 FH180 SH. Runs quiet, and smooth…can’t even tell it’s running at idle. So far no issues, and motor has met all my expectations. Other than running fresh water through the motor after a day out at sea….annual winterization and oil service has been done by the dealer marina engines.

Mercury 115 HP EFI I have had mine since new. I fitted it myself and I started servicing it after warranty ran out in 07. I have just put it on the electric dyno meter at the local mechanics for $50 and he showed me on screen its done 433hrs in 9years of use and all is perfect. Now there are people that don’t know much that will say bad about certain brand motors, this is true, but I can tell you that lemons always fall in amongst apples! I have had a few different brand motors over the years and in my experience anything electrical or mechanical has it’s drama at some stage! PS, I always hear…” I have never had a problem with my motor in 5 years ECEPT only needed to change my electronic sensor for this or that”!!!!! Get it people!

Honda BF15
No issues after over 100 hours of use on my 15′ x 60” wide jon boat. Only issue I had is some kind of insect built a mud home in my gas overflow line that comes out beside the water output line. This caused overflow gas to flow into the crankcase making the oil level high. Easy fix, with a call to my local Honda dealer, with about 10 minutes of my time. Highly recommended because it is light, powerful and so quiet that I fish most of the time with it running.

Suzuki have a product recall and predelvery modification on 2016-20 4-5-6hp engines!
They remove the exhaust valve stem seal! My DF5A has done 36hrs and oil filter change was done at 20.5hrs and going awesome! The only issue I have seen personally is mine wasn’t getting full throttle, I adjusted throttle cable on carbureter side and now what a difference my Zodiac 2.4m with aluminium bottom gets up and planes. Hope this helps all others, also i got it from marina engines.

MERCURY FOURSTROKE 90 HP XL best outboard I have ever owned. I have owned it and i bought it from marina engines. I do my own oil and lower unit. best 4 stroke on the market. I Have owned Johnson and mercury my whole life, but will never go back. I am able to top speed with this motor and than stop and start back trolling or put down riggers out in the big water. Can do it all with 1 motor. I could never of done that with my Johnson.

Mercury SeaPro™ 60 HP this motor has given us sooooo much pleasure last summer. Silent, powerful, easy to control. Somehow it sorts out any problem. You can it run it straight through weeds (chops them up). If it gets too many weejust pop it up on the hinge, and pull em off. The power left indicator does work, but even if it stops dead… leave for a minute on off, and it will carry on very slowly for quite a bit. i got it from marina engines at a good deal, i will recommend them to any one .

Mercury Jet 35 HP EFI great motor. Does all the things I wanted it for – propelling a Heyland work boat across a freshwater lake. Battery indicator is a bonus.
Oddly it arrived without props which was sorted after a phone call . Be aware the 68 model doesn’t come with the battery clips shown in the photo. Connectors designed for 50+ amps needed.

Honda BF2.3 Its very noisy as it’s exhaust is above the water. Its air cooled so that means no water pump to replace or worry about in shallow grit filled water. The centrifugal clutch and no reverse gear takes some getting used to. Hint: Start it with the nose of the boat against something so it docent take off unexpectedly.

Mercury Jet 25 HP EFI tough and powerful, I had one of these on a 5.2 Haines half cab and it was bulletproof. Very grunty engine with nice top speed sound, over 850hrs with just regular maintenance. Fuel economy ok but 4 stroke would be better, also, louder than 4 stroke. For the money its hard to go past this well proven design.

I repowered my boat and went from a F60 Yamaha to the DF70A Suzuki. I was going to buy the F70 Yamaha but couldn’t see the value considering the engine capacity was the same as the F60. I wanted more grunt for my heavy plate alloy boat so the 1.5 litre engine versas the Yamaha 1 litre sealed the deal. I love the limit switch setting on the tilt which stops the motor hitting any obstruction in the boat. It uses less fuel than the F60 and really jumps the hull out of the water. Being the lowest horsepower in the group means it is less stressed than the other 80 – 90 HP models with tons of torque. At 155Kg it is very light. These engines are not automotive or motorcycle engines adapted but a dedicated marine design. The engines have a 4 litre oil sump compared to the Yamaha 2 litres. The lean burn feature does not depend on an oxygen sensor but is mapped through the ECU so there is no sensor to fail and stop you out on the water.
Ok now negatives. Noisier on the cruise than a Yamaha. Not offensive but a lower growl. I miss my Yamaha instrumentation. Suzuki need to upgrade from the old school analogue gauges and the hour meter through the tacho is a pain as I used to look at my digital hour meter and gauge out my fuel usage. The dealer had to drill another hole for the extra gauge. Suzuki even if they stay with analogue gauges should make a system which fits into the Yamaha twin gauge set up.
Heaps of grunt. Light weight. Great economy. Compact compared to the F80 Yamaha. Love the tilt limit.
Instrumentation could be better. Noisier on the cruise but not offensive
